Instagram logo

The Pepper. wordmark as the logo. Instagram crops to a circle and renders as small as 32 px in comments, so each is shown exactly that way.

Tone

Two flat tones

No third colour, no tints, no gradients — every design is a genuine two-ink job. Both assets exist in both calibrations.

Black on white

Pure #000000 on #FFFFFF — everything, both polarities.

Cool
#0F1317 #ECEFF2

Cool white and cool black, both with a slight blue bias. Neither is pure — the off-white prints as paper, the blue-black reads as a chosen colour rather than a default.

#000000 #FFFFFF

True mono. Maximum contrast, and exactly what a one-colour print or a single-thread embroidery actually uses.

Highlight

The story, nine frames

1080 × 1920, text inside the story safe area so Instagram's own chrome never covers a line. Tap order is 01 to 09. Two frames flip to light on purpose — they carry the joke and the call, and the change of ground marks them as beats.

The register is the sundowner: warm, unhurried, open. Everyone is welcome at six.

Cover

Highlight covers

Instagram crops the cover to a small circle, so these are centred and simple. SUNDOWNERS is the recommended label — warm, unmistakably South African, and it says what the brand is about.

Moodboard

24 reference photos

Placeholder, not final. These are Unsplash-licensed stock — free for commercial use — and they set the mood: golden hour, water, gathering, fire. But the brand strategy calls for photography that is specifically St Francis: the canals, white walls and black thatch, the chokka fleet, the point. Use these to brief a shoot, then replace them.

Bios

32 options, plus 4 multi-line

Instagram allows 150 characters; counts are exact. None use the word "salt" — ordinary English, but also the other brand's name, and a bio is the single most-compared line of copy you have. #1 is the recommendation: it says what the brand is, where it's from and what to do about it, in one line.

How the word is fitted

Set across the widest chord and sized to fill it. Monospace tracking tightened 8.5% to buy back width Space Mono's fixed advances would waste.

It goes soft at 32 px. Seven characters across a 32 px circle gives about a 4 px cap height, so in comments it reads as a shape rather than a word. Inherent to a wordmark at this size; Solid handles it best.

Profile

How the mark sits on a phone

Solid, as Instagram will crop it. Bio is the recommended line.
